Mark Martin and Valerie Smith met with Steffanie Whalum from the Government Affairs Dept. of AST on 5/30/2019, to discuss a plan to further promote our profession in the state of Washington and to discuss moving forward with legislation requiring certification in our state.
It was determined that 2019-2020 was not an ideal time to move forward for the following reasons
*The session is already over for 2019
*The impending election and a changing political environment in 2020
*A current House bill may greatly affect legislation of certification
*Finances
It was determined that our best course of action is to raise our profile in the state, to educate our members and to begin raising funds so that we might proceed in 2021.
